As we just made such efforts to fully localize OCPN there should be a localizing system for the plug-ins, too. I am very much of the opinion that each plug-in should have its own (separate) po/mo files bundled with it (and not to add them to the OCPN main po/mo files).

In the meanwhile there are already translation files (.po) for some plug-ins available.
I would like to say that there are imho some drawbacks with the actual way of adding all .po files to the appropriate LC_MESSAGES folder in /share/locale/[lang]/.

Especially for un-installing it makes things quite "uncomfortable". I guess we do not want the user to download all of his plug-ins again when simply installing a newer version? But at least for Windows actually any old version is completely un-installed when upgrading. Therefor it would be much easier if all files that belong to a plug-in would be stored in one folder (named by the plug-in's name) and would be located under /plugins. This is also like the majority of applications handle plug-ins.
